Recent events have made it obvious to me that the era of music sharing on Blogger is coming to an end. In general, I am disappointed by blues performers after 1980.  Many of them sound too polished, the production is too slick, and there is too much influence from rock. There are plenty of fifty year old records that I can listen to, but I'm a musical explorer.  Despite what we bloggers tell you, there are very few remaining musical geniuses from the Sixties left undiscovered.  At some point one has to come to grips with the fact that music has changed, be it fusion or rap.  If you want to keep hearing great new music, you have to accept those new forms.

These are not the blues of the Rolling Stones, or even B.B. King.  Weldon 'Juke Boy' Bonner lived a hardscrabble existence, he really had the blues.  Born in Texas during the Great Depression, orphaned by 8 years old, and dead from liver failure at the age of 46.

I use the standard 5 star system with higher numbers being better.  I've leaned heavily on the style section of All Music Guide in order to assign things to very broad categories that would make it easy to sort by the type of music.
